Biography
Mike S. Yang is a senior executive and serial entrepreneur with a career spanning across corporate strategy, global operations, international business development, high-tech R&D, and finance. He is also an active community member serving on several non-profit organization and start-up boards. Mike currently leads LuxCreo Inc. in reshaping manufacturing through digital 3D “production” as the Chief Operating Officer and President of North America. He serves on the board of General Mobile, Ambassador Cinema (Taiwan), and the 1990 Institutes (US non-profit); and previously on the Bloom Energy International, Relon New Materials (China), and EfficientNow boards. Prior to starting LuxCreo, Mike was a Managing Director of the Bloom Energy executive team that brought the company public on NYSE in 2018. During his 11-year tenure at Bloom Energy, Mike built the company’s global strategic supply chain and led the APAC operations. Before Bloom Energy, Mike was the founding CFO of Danoo, a KPCB portfolio company in the digital media space and later acquired by Reach Media (RMGN). Mike started his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and a senior technical staff member at AT&T Bell Labs. At McKinsey, Mike spearheaded semiconductor, hi-tech and innovation practices in Greater China through CEO/CFO Office engagements and several global private equity transactions. At AT&T, Mike led the business development and operation planning for key strategic programs, including the Voice-over-IP and High-Speed Network Initiative post MediaOne and TCI acquisitions. In 2000 Mike joined Akamai Technologies, where he set up and managed Akamai's West Coast technical operations. His clients included Microsoft, Apple, HP, Trendmicro, IBM, Symantec, Macy's, and other Fortune 500 firms. Mike is an MBA graduate with distinction (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Mike also holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences (A.I. & Optimization), M.S. in Applied Physics (Protein Folding), and a B.A. with highest honors (summa cum laude & Phi Beta Kappa graduate) in Applied Mathematics with specializations in Biochemistry and Medical Sciences from Harvard. In his spare time, Mike enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs at ChinAccelerator and students at Harvard and UPenn. Mike is passionate about technology and ancient arts; he loves musicals despite being musically challenged. |
