It’s believed to be “the best travelling experience if we have a local friend, so we don’t miss out on any meaningful spot, and enjoy the most authentic experience.” Storius is a platform that brings two groups of people together, travelers and storytellers from the local community. We are building a map with short audio stories that are location-based, and crowd-sourced, enabling the two groups to connect deeper on the way. Since June 2020 till now, we have collected over 700 stories from more than 20 countries including Bangladesh, China, Thailand, recruiting more than 200 storytellers. We have developed a prototype for UI/UX testing, in line with human-centred design and a web-app to display consolidated backend databases. We have already secured a seed grant of 100,000 HKD from the Hong Kong CyberPort Creative Micro Fund. Our revenue model is first to gather a community of travelers and storytellers, and then to price business for advertising. With our PR and marketing progress, we have developed a few business leads that are keen to put in money for sponsored content. The next step is to build a mobile application in the Android environment to compliment user testing and to bootstrap app users acquisition. Meanwhile, we will follow up closely with our business leads and continue to develop more in the pipeline. Storius is born during covid, with our belief of people’s craving for traveling, local SME’s and tourism needs of recovery, and trending audio industry. We hope to disrupt the tourism industry, one story at a time!
