What can Political Philosophy Teach Hong Kong Today? Throughout history, numerous political thinkers have responded to the challenges of their times with their theoretical work. Having experienced political upheaval in recent years, many Hongkongers feel that challenging times lie ahead for themselves and for our city. As political leaders and lay citizens alike consider what concepts such as ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ mean, political philosophy has gained salience and popularity among the public. In this panel, we explore what political philosophy is, whether we should care about it, and what insights it can provide for Hong Kong and Hongkongers.
