'Empowering the Grassroots through Agents of Change'
The economic downturn caused by the pandemic has led to over 100,000 households driven into poverty in Hong Kong as indicated in a study published by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). With deep understanding of poverty experience based on childhood grassroot upbringing, Mr Wayne Chau founded a social enterprise Agent of Change, which has served over 600,000 poor people. Wayne’s effort is recognized by society, winning him numerous awards including the Hong Kong Volunteer Award, Hong Kong Youth Services Award, and the Hong Kong Spirit Ambassador. In the closing plenary, Mr Chau will share his dedicated work over the past years in empowering the grassroots through education, along with his advocacy of promoting Finnish education across Asia.
